Ironically would’ve led to Bill winning. We know now that little bits of Bill was left in Stan’s mind. Those bits were restored alongside Stan’s mind. So if the Axolotl didn’t forcefully remove Bill, then for a brief moment Bill would’ve been erased, but the moment Stan regains his memories, he brings back Bill.

So in canon Bill is trapped in therapy, but if he didn’t pull the gun so soon he would’ve restarted Weirdmagedon before summer’s end.
