As a Gen X I can say the training and mentoring I received is way far better and superior to what is now offered. Companies are putting way more work and demands on there employees so the do not have the time to mentor or train the new employees properly, then they blame the employee when they are being set up to fail.

I honestly believe it when they say that gen Z is hard to deal with. And i believe even more that it's because they don't let themselves be pushed around and enslaved like most millennials who are treated like shit in Most workplaces. You go gen Z'ers, you Go

I'm 81—a long way from GenZ—but this is trash.
When I was creative director @ ad agencies, I figured it was management's job to provide an appropriate work environment.
I did it and had effective, profitable departments with little turnover.

The generation that had it handed to them but stayed bitter because they were home alone expect the youth to hand it to them as well

Im 18 years old and just finished my first semester of college and based on the comments I can see this is very divisive. In my opinion if you think Gen Z is oversensitive or hard to deal with, you might not know enough of them or only watch the online freak outs of Gen Z and protesters. Most of us are chill and have a good work ethic.

I’d be very interested to see the wording of these questions and what else was asked. For example were they asked if they’d fired a millennial in the first week? My guess would be yes. Or why they’re top of the firing list? In my experience the firing list is the most recent hired and often the oldest or youngest workers. It’s easy to manipulate questions, responses and statistics to tell the narrative you want to. 10 years ago it was millennials and avocado toast, now it’s Gen Z refusing to be exploited or insulted.

But I have been working with Gen Z kids and millennials before them. The only difference today is the sense of hopelessness from all of the Doom Scrolling and knowing they’ll never afford a house or earn as much as their parents proportionally. As millennials we were the first generation ever to earn less than our parents, we had to figure that out over years but Gen Z start work already knowing that. It’s depressing listening to 18 year olds discuss if they’ll ever be able to afford to have more than 1 kid on the salary of the job you’re training them for.

I like watching your videos, but it’s not always the employees who are right and the company wrong. It takes two to tango.

I can understand to a degree as some GenZ people I have worked with have been very very difficult, to the point of them thinking they are entitled to many things they are not. Some treat jobs as a quick buck for a couple of weeks during training.

For example, I worked for an energy company and 1 of the trainees (GenZ) was playing Elden Ring when it first released instead of doing online group exercises, so he was going to quit after the 2 weeks training.

Not all GenZ are like that of course, but from my experience as a work colleague there has been many - bad attitudes, lazy, not caring and just money grabbing.

I don’t quite agree with this one. The average gen Zer is slightly more lazy and definitely has more of a learning curve for technology.

It is not on the companies to teach tech skills. Where did you get that Ben?

I've seen it first hand. GenZ'ers are horrible!

Nope gen z's that start in my work are def too lazy. Everyone gets the same training. They dont get fired but they quit because the work is too hard. They also hated because they do get offended too easily but unlike everyone else who just talks to the person that has offended them like an adult they run to the managers and want action taken.

If you do the minimum and Todd does above your minum and gets promoted. Is your company wrong for giving Todd the promotion.

I have no dog in this fight, but sorry, if you tell me that a lot of people complain about a particular group maybe can be a little bit of that group fault? I don't know every single case but as I admit that some people can have prejudice against gen Z can we also admit that gen Z has some fault on its own? I completely support the idea that if I have to work my ass off to not be even able to survive it's not worth it, but all the woke shenanigans it's not something of previous generations....if I was a manager that when is hiring people meet some blu haired they/zem I can have some reservations about other people from the same generations? Anyway my point is if a lot of people don't like gen Z as workers maybe there are some reasons behind it...that's all....gen Z Is not.perfect....p.s. i am not pro manager and against gen Z...i just don't like when one is always the evil guy and the other the victim

I like your videos, but 1300 managers cant be wrong. I am not a manager but in my years I have seen Gen Z generation as very problematic. I have seen a lot of them act spoilt and think you simply turn up at a job and expect a massive salary for doing very little, while phoning in sick every five minutes and expecting sympathy all the time (and that is with support of their managers). Of course thats a minority, but they are the biggest problem minority for managers to handle. Gen x and millennials have a very different work ethic.

It’s the same reason as incels complain. In the past you could be a dick and workers/wives would put up with it as they didn’t know their worth or they didn’t have options. Nowadays people are more likely to know they are worth not being treated like shit and that is difficult for the bullies who treat people like shit.

Eeeeeh… I like this guy normally, but have an issue with a couple of things he says. Specifically about the laziness and being offended part. He just kinda glosses over the “gen z-ers are lazy” with “that obviously isn’t true.” To just ignore 76% of peoples opinion who are actually dealing with the people because you just don’t believe it, isn’t convincing. And we do live in a time where it is kinda the fad to be offended, and to discount the opinion of people trying to run a business who are kinda tired of those who are offended by EVERYTHING also isn’t a great thing to do. I agree that some business owners are jerks and that the old way of thinking is work hard and have no life, which I don’t agree with, but it doesn’t mean this survey is missing the mark and this current generation doesn’t hold some of the blame.

Just my useless opinion though.
