As someone who in a time before personal computers struggled immensely in school and college with handwriting and reading, and for years not really understanding if I had a real "learning disability", what you describe very much describes why things that are innate to most have been a challenge for me. If I could have heard the insights and confirmation you shared I believe it would have went a ways towards helping me to progress academically and professionally.

In my case, reading training did help greatly. back in grade 7 (U.S.) I went from barely able to read to being able to manage quite, and eventually almost to speed-reading levels with the help of a device called a 'Controlled Reader'. Essentially an automatic feed 35mm filmstrip viewer that projected a moving shadow-box along sentences. eventually this helped me to see words on a page not as a jumble of patterns but as strings of text.
