If you're trapped in the desert for 24 hours, find a place in the shade. If you can find no shade, dig a hole and climb inside to stay cool. Build a fire to keep warm at night and to show your location for anybody that might be searching for you. It will also keep away things like snakes and scorpions.

The deserts here in the southwestern part of United States don’t get that cold at night. Yes, during the daytime, the temperature can reach 120°F. At night, however, it only cools off to 95°F 105°F depending where you are. In the winter months, daytime highs might only be around 65°F and nighttime lows would be in the 40s Fahrenheit.
