Dread actually chases u, he is very faint but u can see it, he is slower than normal walkspeed so u can outrun him

FACT: dread does not guaranteely attack you after a few seconds but hes reaching you slowly and you can even see and outrun him as long as you want in the same room but its hard to see him

There was a room with a BUNCH of dupe rooms and my squad were all low so dread got our asses trynna decide. Honestly one if the scariest encounters i had in doors. 10/10 entity

i think dread is a personification of us as a character fearing the unknown of whats behind the next door, we pace around filled with fear, only to than face the darkness slowly surrounding us, and eventually killing us with our fear.

You apparently can also use the alarm clock, from room 49 after escaping Figure to decrease the midnight wait.

I was playing with a friend of mine when I got dread, but the thing being I got lost in room 150 for an hour straight, getting me killed I was astonished and pissed as hell that I that my reaction forwards dying to dread was just this "🗿"
