I know the pain. My mom told me that the night before her surprise birthday party I had planned. She never apologized and said I did it for so I could look good. WTF does that even mean! Nothing is more painful or makes u question your worth. Totally lost two years to substance abuse. Not blaming her but I realized if I was going to fix myself and grow I was going to have to let her and those attached to her, go I moved across the country to get away but still have massive guilt and I grieve. Over the fact that I'll never have the mother I yearn for. Who excepts me. Who has both my back and best intentions towards me. Life is lonely but if I can make it thru this, I can endure anything, and I am! I'm in school for real estate and can't wait till I'm able to help others achieve their dreams of homeownership. One dream I had to let go of, but a new dream was made possible. Thank u for listening. Sometimes we think we're the only ones who go thru certain hardships but we're not alone. 2023 is the year of dreams coming true

I like how Elton is standing up for himself and trying his best to as well because he’s fed up of his mother being uncaring or just being heartless in general for most of his life


And I don’t think Elton john had fat little legs gosh she really almost has lost the plot

They’re going to ask him for money for the house, not even really ask but TELL him to get the money arranged, and berate him in the same breath. Elton’s mom is lucky he ever spoke to her again.

I can't help remembering the scene from his childhood in which she tells Elton's father to come in and say "hello" to him. That scene showed how much she truly cared about Elton and how much his father really broke her heart. She wished that they could have all been happy together. And you do see that recurrently throughout the movie--her smiling in the pub, her looking up at Elton while he's writing "Your Song." Those parts of the movie may come and go quickly, but they exist for a reason. I don't think it's pure selfishness driving her in this scene; she just thinks she deserves more from their relationship. I agree, it doesn't make for a healthy relationship, but so many people write her off as a narcissist or a sociopath, and I don't think that's fair.

This would have been an ideal moment to drop the C-bomb on her, she deserved it in the film and in real life.
