The Grandmother was Elton’s best parent figure.

I interpret the hugging himself as a child was not that he wasn't loved, he didn't love himself. We often forget to love ourselves.

I teared up when Bernie said “I love you man, always have, always will.”😿

The moment his younger self asked to be hugged I couldn’t hold back the ugly tears. Reminds me of inner child work which was so needed for me. It’s like finally having an adult love you the way you needed.

"When are you going to hug me?" That broke me 😢

Working with my therapist, she’s asked me to hug and comfort ‘my younger self’ like here, so I naturally cried at this scene. I hope I get there.

What a wonderful and positive scene relating to therapy. Through therapy Elton was able to face head on people in his life the contributed to his poor mental health. Not only that he was able to say “I can’t control you. The reason why you were so horrible was because you also had issues. Boundaries in relationships are important and above all I need to love myself.” What a powerful message this sends!

“I gave everything to keep something that I never even had in the first place.” I just ended my relationship with my boyfriend. A year and a half. It was toxic but I was so blinded. This line in this particular part of the movie really hit me because I know what it feels like to love somebody but then begin to realize it was fake all along and they never loved you back throughout that time you were with them. You cared so much but they never even cared at all.

As someone who dealt with a Mum much like Elton's and a disconnected father I longed for his love, this scene broke me down. I ugly cried.

The “when are you going to hug me?”-line gets me everytime. Best scene in the movie. Masterpiece! 😍💕

This movie made me appreciate Sir Elton much more. If anything I think it reminds us that celebrities are human too.

This scene really broke me down starting from the part where he overdosed and cried backstage at his show and then checked himself into rehab. I haven’t seen anything this poignant in a very long time. His is a movie of hope. Not having enough love and bad parents created such huge demons, and everything behind his cure was loving and accepting himself and his inner neglected child.

'You just need to remember who you are, and be ok with it'
That hits home hard, brings a tear to my eye.

It broke me when he confronted himself because we all forget how to love ourselves and I relate to that sm

This scene is so beautiful because the entire movie, Elton is just wanting someone to love him.. and nobody will. His mom even tells him “nobody will ever love you properly.” and then this scene is Elton finally finding someone who will love him… himself.

No one realizes how powerful this scene is. Specially when he sees his younger version, he literally was able to do all the shadow work, forgiving everyone, but specially and most importantly healing his inner child 🥺🖤

This one scene made me cry more than the whole of bohemian rhapsody, Taron is absolutely powerful. Also adopted I think I'm ok with strange as a motto.
