I never thought there was any dispute over this. Omega makes a better timepiece than Rolex. Rolex has just been able to make good quality watches with aesthetics that never age.

For me Grand Seiko won the game with the spring drive. Their watches are amazing too but that movement is the nail in the coffin for me. Mechanical movement with no batteries and no ticking. PERFECTLY smooth. Everyone else is imitating a smooth sweep with their high beat rates but it's just an illusion. Their watches still tick instead of sweep. Only Grand Seiko did a real smooth sweep on a mechanical watch.

That's true. But who has ever bought a Rolex for the functions? It's like buying a Lamborghini for the cargo space.

Seiko is a great brand. I love Seiko. But two kinds of people insist the Grand Seiko is better than Rolex: those who can't afford Rolex but still want Rolex cred, and those who have some kind of agreement with Seiko. Those who just enjoy the GS brand and products buy them and enjoy them without feeling the need to boast about superiority. I also like Tissot, Hamilton and some Bulova, but I'd never go on insisting that they are superior. They're just nice watches. I don't need to justify it by comparing them to Patek or Rolex.
