Just delete your VPN.

Step 1 you need data
Step 2 use your data and download vpn
Step 3 attempt to connect to the internet it should not show on the top of the screen but it will be loading
Step 4 turn on vpn on a location different to where u are living without use data!
Step 5 youre internet should automatically connect

There is also a small bug thaat includes Nord VPN ive found, if you usually use Nord VPN (not tested on other VPN's) and your contract runs out then you must delete Nord VPN of your phone, if not your phone will connect to the wifi but you wont be able to use the internet.
Iv had this issue all day today but after realising i havnt payed my VPN bill (and didnt want to ;)) I deleted the app from my phone and now i can use the internet on my iphone once again.

It could also be because your wifi antenna is broken in which case you’ll need to bring it into a repair shop or fix it yourself if u have that skill set.

Edit: for all those who don’t understand. Ur phone has a wifi antenna inside. I’m not talking about your household wifi antenna.
