Big brain strategy: nickname some party member(s) into another Pokemon that exists on your team, some into a Pokemon that doesn't exist on your team, and keep some their original name.

I will not nickname my Pokemon, but run a Dugtrio anyway. They'll never see it coming.

I love the Zapdos called Zapatos.
It means "shoes" in spanish

I don't really follow competitive Pokemon, but I love a video that actually gets to the point, and an explanation of a very silly strategy that has very functional consequences..

The REAL reason nuzlockes force you to nickname Pokémon

I know in Pokemon Reborn the Dark type gym leader nicknames her team so when the game asks if you want to switch it will say Gym Leader is about to use Do you want to switch? And then you're confused cause you don't know what the Pokémon is that she will send out.

It wasn’t until Gen 5 that Beat Up stopped revealing names, so why isn’t this relevant for Gen 2 & Gen 4 competitive?
Is Beat up not part of the meta in those generations or do they display the names of the species regardless of the nickname in those generations?

Tiny optimizations in information are part of what makes competitive Pokémon so engaging. Reminds me of people bluffing choice items using expert belt or plates, it's just great.

Imagine someone nicknames a pokemon to another pokemon name. if that is allowed then that is going to be great for throwing of the other team.

Got a love a video that offers a straightforward title, gets right to the point, delivers the information in a clear and concise way with no fluff, and provides helpful visual aids, all while staying under 90 seconds. 10/10 great work

When *not* nicknaming your pokemon isn't competitively viable.

Actually, wouldn't it be optimal to nickname everything except the lead? The lead is revealed at the start anyway and you can mindgames you opponent into thinking you are bad.

This is a great video! Very informative but also short and to the point.

Give Dugtrio a King's Rock when it uses Beat up. It'll give it a 60% chance to flinch the opponent. It's funny seeing people rage at getting flinched for every single one of their Pokemon

I will happily watch any video like this about competitive pokemon- please keep making more. This video format is perfect. In the days where youtube is dominated by unnecessarily drawn out intros and overexplanation this video is just perfect. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many comments commending this video for the same reasons.

Same as why you should never run a Shiny Zapdos in ADV, because shiny Zapdos can't have Baton Pass. So you reveal that you don't have it while sending out a shiny Zapdos.

Unrelated to the content of the video, thank you for making a video with no dancing around the point. You told us that Pokémon are nicknamed, why they're nicknamed, and why it matters with no filler. Props to you
