Chance Jensen from the US decided to showcase his Aztec Death Whistle.
Knowing that it was difficult to blow, he found a nifty way for the whistle to make noise by using a leaf blower. What followed next was a terrifying screaming sound.

Hi, I’m Mexican and have studied Mexica (Aztec) history because of my native heritage, the whistle wasn’t used in ritual sacrifice.

It was a war whistle, similar in purpose the the war drums or war horns or war bands of the Old World armies.

They’d use it to terrorize nearby enemies.

Also they had some other whistles to imitate animal sounds, which would likely have been used for entertainment purposes.

Please do check your information before sharing; otherwise people get the wrong idea about what is real and what is not regarding foreign (and ancient) cultures, as a descendant of said cultures I don’t necessarily want that to be the case.

I should also point out that it is highly unlikely an authentic one can be sourced by a regular person. You either have to be incredibly rich, perhaps with criminal connections, or you will get a replica, which are commonly sold in shops all over South/Central Mexico as well as parts of Guatemala and Belize.

Real ones tend to be protected in museums around the world, relics of Mesoamerican history.
