I'm not an easy scare, but even being prepared for a "scary sound", I have to say while that it didn't "scare" me, I could certainly feel it tickling something primitive in my brain. I think in a different context it would scare me.

What's even scarier is that after hearing it at least once, your brain will register it and save it as an unforgettable sound. So when you go to sleep and have a nightmare, you brain will use the sound to scare you even further.

I remember getting one as a gift for Christmas one year at a big gettogether. While 2/3 of the people were in other rooms, I blew it, & they all came RUSHING in. Every single one of them said it was the exact tonality of what they thought their significant other or child who was in the room with me sounded like if they had to scream. It was fascinating & pretty funny.
