But you don’t have a sample of this sound to add to the video?

I work at a haunted house, so jumpscares rarely get us. The boss walks around with one of these because it's one of the few things that can startle the actors

Came here to hear the sound of a death whistle. Didn't hear a death whistle. Couldn't license a clip?

The wind theory is interesting. When I've heard people use these, they usually blow really hard, but if you blew softly, it would probably sound more like the wind.

I own a 3d printed death whistle. Hooked up an air compressor to it. Cops showed up about 7m later. They were not impressed.

my latin teacher had one that he'd blow only when the class was absolutely abhorrent, so not usually, he also said that it took an hour off his life each time lol

My history teacher has one. I remember when we were learning about the Aztecs, he used the whistle while we were outside and absolutely terrified the PE class

To everyone who didn't think they heard the death whistle, it's that sound in the background that could be mistaken for wind. At low volume it's not terribly scary. At full volume it sounds like someone is being murdered.

He really made us watch the entire short without letting us hear the whistle 💀

I actually own one of these. It’s in the shape of a jaguar head and it sounds like a jaguar. Scares the absolute shit out of any animal

Whether we have the whistle's actual intentions down or not, you have to admit that it would be effective as intimidation in battle rather than yelling because it's a sound the other side probably doesn't expect and it keeps you from straining your vocal cords.

If you blow on them more gently, more like an instrument than a police whistle, it sounds like harsh winds

Simon can probably do a perfect imitation without even using the whistle.

My professor brought one into class one time and blew it. We had half the floor looking for "the screaming person" for about 10 minutes 😂

I own an Aztec death whistle that is in the shape of the velociraptor resonating chamber from Jurassic park 3. One of the coolest additions to my collection.

For those commenting that he should have played a sample, he actually did. The part showing the whistles used for war has a recording of a death whistle played over it.

A lot of people don't realize the word *panic* comes from an ability the Greek god of the wild Pan had. It's most legendary usage was during the Titan-Olympian war when the Olympians were being overrun and backed into a corner. The god of the wild walked out onto the battlefield and unleashed a primal sound so unnerving it spread irrational terror and confusion that sent the enemy troops into retreat and singularly turned the tide of war.

The sound has never been accurately described but I do wonder if a thousand Aztec Death Whistles may be as close as we ever get to the true sound of 'panic'. The sound that can terrify a god.

I love how he showed the history of the whistle and the sound it makes to further his point of the whistle sounding terrifying ☺️
