I worked at Best Buy when their in-store kiosks were rigged to show higher prices on their website than the actual internet site at large. Yes, you'd walk into a Best Buy and they'd show you an item on the computer and it would cost more than if you ordered it from your home.

As a Best Buy worker (warehouse) I also think the push towards total tech being the only way to get a GPU is bull shit. Yes if you buy it then there's a lot of other benefits but it's a pretty scummy way of getting total tech memberships.

Here's a tip though, you can return your total tech membership in the same 15 day return policy as the rest of your products.

funniest part about all this is best buy is helping scalpers. The scalpers already had a tech team membership from when they were scalping ps5s. Paying 200 dollars isnt a huge loss when they are buying and flipping 10 gpus. Meanwhile the only people getting screwed are people who just want one lol .

Securing one of these in demand items from Best Buy is one thing. To secure one, and then discover that their staff has given your items to some random person, despite the fact they tell you to bring Government issued ID, because apparently their system only prompts the CSR to ask for ID only 1 in 5 times (and not apparently taking the value of the order into consideration), and then they deny any sort of culpability while not showing you footage of whoever it was picked your order up, and giving you the opportunity to point out their negligence, is entirely another. If their staff know that there's only a small chance that the system will ask them to verify ID, this just opens an unscrupulous employee up to committing fraud. This isn't just my experience, go check the BB subreddit. "Inside job" is also the first thought of any law enforcement official I have provided details to. Meanwhile I'm $2, 300 out of pocket.

Wait till the RTX 4000 series comes out. Then BestBuy is gonna panic themselves and sell the RTX 3000 series openly and while 4000 series are also under pay wall. Then they'll face an issue where the 4000 series are also "out of stock" and they want to resell the 3000 series but they can't cause people are happily buying last gen for better value. And the cycle continues.
