it was nice having the blond one being the mean one and the brunette being the 'good' one for a change.
And I say this from when this was aired, not from today's point of view where it's much diverse. But we have so many old shows where there seems to be a pattern with making dark haired the evil bad or agressive ones and the blue eyed blond ones the good one. So many example shows I could give like Power Puff Girls, Sailor Moon, Disney's Recess etc.
