Depends on the plant, and especially the kind of soil its planted in. Like for example, my basil plants. I give them 4 oz of water every day per plant, which is just enough to keep the soil fully hydrated. But not soaking. The excess drains and were good. Pepper plants want water less commonly maybe every 2 or three days depending on your climate. Orchids once weekly. It goes on and on.

The drainage won’t do shit if you don’t have quick draining soil. Some soil will absorb the water and won’t give it back so your plant will be sitting in mud for weeks, some soil is not absorbable and it will go straight out of the pot. It is all about the soil, temperature, pot material, air humidity also some plants are more prone to root fungus so you need to be careful with watering them.
