I work for the invasive species control with fish and game in Montana, the reason they have you dry out your live wells and drain your motor is because in the first stage of zebra mussels they are microscopic and can live in standing water for up to 2 weeks, the easiest way to stop the spread of aquatic invasive species is to make sure your boat is clean drained and dry, there’s 4 states left without zebra mussels, we have caught 45 boats with mussels on them coming into Montana already this season, may seem frustrating but it helps stop the spread

the fish commission and cottagers association on the lakes I fish here in Pennsylvania put up signs telling you to clean off your boat before and after you launch. they're the same people who have no qualms about dumping tons of weed killer into the same bodies of water. Love your videos.

You should see mussel inspections in comifornia, if you take your plug out or trim down your motor and a single drop of water comes out they will turn you away for the entire day. While I am a big believer in being diligent on not spreading the mussels, what this guy did was virtually pointless, even wet trailer bunks can carry the mussels…
