Between this and your comment in the bow tie video about a baptist ordination exam I think we need a “denominations discuss their ordination exam”.

ChatGPT and other AIs respond well to academic answers. However, AIs do not apply well to application answers. For example, AI will answer well to "explain hypostatic union". If asked, "why is the hypostatic union so fundamental to the Christian faith?", it will struggle. Basically, it lacks the discerning capability.

Very interesting....yeah, I'd like to hear what AI would tell us about the Covenant of Grace, and what you have to say about it.

You should ask it to answer from the Presbyterian perspective. I bet it would have nailed everything given those prompts.

At 3:44, I would definitely take issue with the computer saying that "God became a person." God has always subsisted in three distinct persons. What it should have said is that the Second Person of the Trinity became a man.

This was done with your usual good humor and winsomeness. It did open my eyes just how scary this type of technology is especially for people who do not wish to do their own thinking.

I feel attacked! I am going to have your new bestie, Joel look at this.

I am kinda mad that I wanted you to ask it more questions. Now, I'm over here having a convo with AI about deep spiritual matters and I'm supposed to be working on a project.

I'd want some more applicational questions and it seems like it still can't really adopt the perspective we want, to answer "as a Presbyterian" but for questions with a reasonably objective answer, not bad!

honestly I think you could get a lot more interest by just asking these questions and providing answers. some of this is stuff I wouldn't just ordinarily find and I think adds a lot to the faith.

I once had chatGPT write four separate papers on the four views on the millennium and it wrote four pretty decent (High School level) papers on the subjects.

If ChatGPT passes, that's the failure of the baby-sprinklers... if there's no question/section on the work of the Sprit in personal sanctification, holiness, the struggle with sin (interesting rabbit trail: is ChatGPT totally depraved?), etc., then there sure needs to be some.

I enjoy your humor. I belong to an OPC. (No on women elders, that’s in the Bible)Thank you for this video. I think we should shout it from the roof top, AI is a search engine, helpful yes, but we can’t trust it to actually have knowledge above what man has. It’s another tool to take jobs away from humans in order to save time and money. God created people to work. Technology can and is being used to undermine God’s design for His creation. I love my midweek Zoom prayer meeting, but would not replace the Sunday Worship service for the Facebook Live version except when I have a fever. Technology has it’s place. Thank you brother.

This probably isn't relevant but Charles Finney passed his ordination examination, even though he obviously didn't apply his knowledge.

I would love to see more of these AI videos interpreting the original Greek to differentiate Calvinism from Arminianism

My understanding is that it’s not pulling from sources. Rather, it is composing from knowledge, however that knowledge comes from various sources.

It's not bad at explaining complicated philosophical concepts. I've used it to parse convoluted sentences from some philosophers. Of course, it doesn't _know_ anything. It's just deciding what the most likely words are to continue the sentences you've given it.

My favorite use for it, though, is to suggest a new recipe to make for dinner.

Right answers are right answers. WAAAYY back when, we no longer had to remember stuff because this German kid invented a way to create consistent copies of scripture (or any other printed work) for whoever ordered one { I'm talking about the printing press, of course]}. Then there were various printed versions (Coptic, Syriac, Vulgate, etc.) of the same works; all similar, yet each a bit different.

If there are 3 Presbyterians involved in a discussion, one of them will be more average than the other two. They will ALL have superior theology, though. 😉

Noticed on your website that you subscribe to the 1st London Confession but I didn’t see any mention of the 1689 LBCF. Any reasons why, especially since you seem to largely agree with Presbyterian theology?

This AI could not pass an ordination exam in our presbytery.
