Attempting Leadman - Episode 2, The Leadville Marathon

Attempting Leadman - Episode 2. This mini-series will be very low-key and just share some of my experiences of the races. No film teams. The Leadville race series challenge of Leadman is when someone finishes all the Leadville races without missing a cutoff in one year. This will consist of the Leadville Marathon, Silver Rush 50 miler, Leadville 100 mile Mountain Bike Race, Leadville 10K, and finally the Leadville 100 mile run.

The trail looks like Western States. Congratulations on getting to the start line.
I am turning 64 next month and "retiring" in a couple of years and planning to retire by doing my first ultra a 50k after I retire as a way to celebrate all the years of work. Watching the videos out here inspires me to keep going to get there.

I bet the cramping was just from low volume of running due to your crash and then running up a mountain in high elevation. Sometimes that just happens even when the nutrition is spot on. Way to tough it out. You are tough as nails for gutting it out when the excuse was written for you to bail. A great example of commitment and perseverance to show your boys.

You need to also add the Silver King 50 run/50 bike combo to the menu. I attempted this in 2019 and will be back in 2022. (Made it all the way through mile 63 of the 100 run for leadman) Can say that if you think you need big training days, you probably don't by now. It's way too easy to over train once you have the base by June. When I go for round 2 next year, I am cutting it wayyyy back. Good luck and enjoy the journey! That's the best part.
