Stretch your lungs (Part 2): Stretches to improve breathing

Jason takes you through stretches to help improve your breathing and lung capacity. This is particularly useful for asthmatics or athletes looking to improve their respiratory function.

When you breathe, muscles contract to inhale, and then relax to exhale. Along with the diaphragm, primary muscles used are the intercostals (between your ribs). You'll also need muscles in the chest, abdominals, upper back and lats.

These muscles can get tired and tight just like any others. Activating and lengthening them help them perform optimally, leading to improved breathing and lung capacity
