Something that I struggled and still struggle a lot with is the pattern or the rhythm the 808 should follow

The best way I found to get it right is to just listen to a lot of song and beats and analyse where they are hitting and when they are sliding and other stuff

I get confused . if i load an 808 or a kick and it says that its a Gm (like when i grab on from splice), that means that the 808/kick is already in that key right; and i don't have to open up the 808 and switch it to Gm on the keyboard to make it a Gm since its already set; yes? and do i only do this if the 808 doesn't tell me what note its in?
