I’ve been endlessly searching for 808’s that don’t sound heavily distorted and how I would describe as: deep, full, bouncy, and wavy. Like Wheezy uses a lot. Any recommendations where to find those?

You can clip any sample into the effects of the FL sampler (boost knob + activate clip). Very useful for 808s and kicks but don't over do it

If anyone's 808s are overlapping and you use FL, make sure to click "cut self" in the sampler. Took me too long to find that tip

This is a fairly good idea, but as he mentions in the video, through distorting your 808 you will loose a lot of low end (depending on how heavily you do this of course). My recommendation would be splitting your 808 into a low (sub frequencies) channel and a „high channel (mid and high frequencies), then proceeding to saturate the „high“ channel and mixing in to taste with the channel only containing the sub frequencies. This will give a much cleaner result than just adding distortion to the 808 as a whole and you will have a lot more low end in your mix. I also find it odd that sidechain wasn‘t discussed in this video. Sidechain your kick to your bass, find the settings that work best for your song and it will already make a huge difference. Also check the phase relationship between the kick and the bass and make sure they are not canceling eachother out.

Good video! I would also add another tip, sometimes my 808s aren't very prominent because I didn't cut out enough low end from my melodies. This of course depends on the instrument used.

That's exactly what happened to me yesterday. The 808 sound was very faint when played with other instruments so I bumped them up an octave and I thought problem solved. Now I know what to do.
