"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.” RIP Alexei Navalny (1976-2024).

Alexei Navalny was asked what his message would be to people if he was killed.

Here is his response from the Academy Award winning documentary about him titled #Navalny, which you can stream on DocPlay.

In August 2020 a plane travelling from Siberia to Moscow diverted to Omsk when a passenger on board became deathly ill. That passenger was Vladimir Putin’s fiercest critic - #AlexeiNavalny. Navalny was evacuated to Germany where authorities confirmed he had been dosed with the Soviet-era nerve agent Novichok. But how was Navalny poisoned? And by whom? NAVALNY, is a fly-on-the-wall documentary that unfolds with the pace of a thriller. Enthralling and intimate, and shot in real time, NAVALNY is also a study of Navalny the man. Scenes with Navalny’s wife, children and colleagues offer a portrait of a masterful media strategist and a leader who is utterly committed to his homeland. NAVALNY offers extraordinary access to a leader who will not be cowed by anything, including his own poisoning. As the documentary ends, Russia’s would-be president returns to his country, ready to sacrifice himself to bring change.

This is just hart breaking! To hear Alexey Navalny talk to us about his own death, knowing he is dead. What a remarkable man he was! And what a nightmare his last year in prison must have been.
God bless your soul Alexey 🙏 🌹 🕊️

Reading about Alexei Navalny and struggling to understand how wholy inadequate the word "courageous" is to encapsulate his bravery. He must have known he'd eventually be murderered by the regime. And yet he flew home.
Makes me realise how precious our democracy is here in Australia.
A beacon of hope cannot be extinguished.

He would have been so much better leader than Putin! A man of true character, morals and values, class, character, dignity and respect.

He was a hero. The moral good, the counter weight against evil. He may have lost his life, but gave hope for so many others.
Rest in peace
