Alexei Navalny, the anticorruption activist who managed to galvanize Russia’s political opposition, died at age 47 while serving out a sentence in a Russian penal colony, Russian news agencies said. Despite being barred from challenging President Vladimir Putin at the ballot box, the leading opposition figure was one of the Kremlin’s most vocal critics.

Navalny as a person might’ve died but navalny as a way of thinking, as a way of life will never die. The good in humanity will overcome the evil and we will keep fighting for good.

He came back to Russia to show the world what happens when you oppose Putin. He could have stayed safe in any western country but he decided to sacrifice his health and his life to show us what that country is capable of. Let him not die in vain.

This is exactly why every country needs a Bill of Rights like our own. Every one of those rights were violated.

Unbelievable, it’s appalling to think that anybody could truly support anything this government does.

I'm russian and Navalny was the reason why I got interested in politics of my country and finally saw how corrupt it was.He always tried to inspire russian people to be brave and protest against our cruel regime, while still bringing comfort and hope, a calming feeling that there still are politicians with a true moral compass in russia.I always dreaded that this day would come even though it was very predictable since he got jailed.I'm feeling very empty now, like I just lost a friend who always cheers me up and I'm pretty sure that a lot of people in Russia feel the same. Rest in peace Alexei, you wont be forgotten and be sure that we will create our free beautiful russia of the future!

Running back to Russia after being poisoned with Novichok shows not only how infinitely badass this brave soul was, but how much he cares for his country, its future, and the people that were voiceless.

RIP you incredibly courageous hero. May you never be forgotten. ❤

His legacy is definitely the opposite of cowardice. He gave his life for a cause that was bigger than himself.
