9:13 The reason left-handedness appears to have gone up is up until relatively recently, naturally left-handed people were usually trained into being right-handed (or more accurately, punished for using their left). Since people have stopped this practice, the percentage of lefties appears to have gone up, when in reality the percentage was probably always around 12% and was being artificially lowered.

A similar trend can be seen with other things that have gone from socially unaccepted to accepted (ex: LGBTQ)
