The reason why there are lines on Phobos is still a hotly debated one: theories range from the massive crater caused the cracks, or it is already the sign that shows Phobos is getting destroyed by Mars's gravity as it spirals into Mars

years ago, rock in a desert in the southwest were found to have trails and have moved hundreds of feet, baffling scientists. turns out, once every 25 years or so, a rain falls, fills up the basin, then freezes and the entire ice sheet creeps across the floor, leaving what looks like rocks that moved themselves, upon melting. i wonder how many unexplained structures are due to phenomena such as this.
