The Witcher: Blood Origin - Prototype Witcher Explained

The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place on the same Continent as The Witcher, but around 1200 years before the time of Geralt of Rivia. No witchers existed yet, as there were no monsters that needed killing. However, Blood Origin will explore the concept of a "prototype witcher" - a very early version of a witcher which paved the way for future witchers to exist on the Continent. Creator Declan de Barra explains what a "prototype witcher" is and how it fits into the wider lore of Andrzej Sapkowski's books. This four-part prequel to The Witcher will explore "the origin of what enables witchers to exist," and premieres on Netflix on December 25.

A "Proto-Witcher" is a strategy to exploit a popular and famous IP to kickstart a completely unrelated story while gathering controversy and more widespread awareness, especially when the confidence on the show's success is pretty low.



On that note, I'm working on a Lord of the Rings canon sequel taking place thousands of years after the books, where Frok, a descendant of Frodo, becomes a powerful hacker against a megacorporation called "The One Ring".

If you wanted to make something unique, you should have made your own show and not used The Witcher IP. This is the same group who rewrote the events of the sacking of Kaer Morhan by uniting men and monsters against witchers with Castlevania anime gravity in the "Nightmare of the Wolf" and thought fans would be pleased. He is a fanfiction writer with poor world-building skills, no regard for the source material and no notion of what makes the world of The Witcher so appealing to readers, gamers, fans. Nobody wants to see your take on stories they like or see how your ideas impact on the characters and world they care about, so stop with the damage control nonsense, keep your ego out of it and most importantly, respect the source material.

Can't wait to see Henry in Warhammer. As Executive Producer, I know he'll find a creative indirect way to pay tribute to Witcher fans within that universe as well. Amazon demonstrated incredible intelligence in giving him creative control, since he's a diehard fan and has made an oath to respect the source material. There is only one way I'll give season 4 of the Witcher a chance and not immediately cancel Netflix after all these years. That is if Liam Hemsworth swears an oath to quit if the source material and fans are not respected. TTFN.
