The two twins actually have canon names for future reference. The boy's name is Aether and the girl's name is Lumine.

For the cooking, some ingredients like the wheat you got from Lynn need to be processed (from either a campfire or stove) into flour before you can use it to cook with. Processing takes time depending on the ingredients being processed, however 5 - 10 minutes per item isn't out of the question. So if you have a lot you want to get processed, best to start it before you log off so it'll be ready by the time you log back on.

The game is a grid the further you go, but nothing too bad for the main story, if somewhere during the game gets boring just pause and just play enough to get the crystals of the day.
Just enjoy the main story and events and stop when you think it is getting boring when there is nothing new in the game.
And most importantly, be careful with the gacha.

Also, that "do headshots matter?" comment... Yes they do. You'll find out why eventually with some enemies, but also something people overlook is that headshots guarantee a critical hit.
