ATHENS VLOG: DAY TRIP TO CHALKIDA IN EVIA! | CHALKIS || LIVING IN GREECE

Geia sas! Join us today as we go on a day trip to Chalkida on Evia island. Chalkida is not so far from Athens and it's a beautiful place to go for the day. We take the Ktel bus there which was very convenient. We have breakfast at a place called Mostar which is located next to the water and it feels like you're on a boat. Later we eat lunch at a taverna called Gourounaki in Chalkida. The weather is amazing and it feels like summer is on it's way☀️ This was our first time in Chalkida and Evia. The train is still working... This is the train to Athens and takes around 90 minutes, very nice track as you drive over the water... You should come a day by train and see it. There is a train every 1-2 hours. 55km drive. it should be around 3-5 euro for the ticket, cheers have fun.

I like Chalkida (I've visited three times from Athens!). The last time was in November 2022, both times by train and it cost 4.80 euro single (9.60 euro there and back). The train station is right next to the bridge too!
There are a few places to visit in Chalkida, there's a Roman Aquaduct, a couple of museums and the Karababa Castle on the hill (on the mainland side)
The train station you saw is the old station, the new station platforms are next to it 😊

The changing water direction is due to rising and falling Tides. The ocean water level adjusts based on the moon. When the ocean rises, the water will flow back inland close to the shore. When the level lowers, the rivers flow back out again
