Another great video. I noticed that you are eating like Greeks, more and more ha ha ha ha. Always remember, put bread at the salad oil, it's traditional in Greece 😂. I have another suggestion for you, visit the Ancient Technology museum in Athens. It's really worthing the visit! Also, I remind you to visit Averof battleship. It's really interesting and there are many cafes and restaurants near to it, so you can make real interesting videos 😁

If you look the map Sounio proper is the last village you passed before the temple. It's not even a village, just a big fancy hotel called Cape Sounion. A little before that there is a real village called Legrena that also has a very nice beach. Now after the temple there are another two settlements a small village called Kato Sounio and a bigger one called Kato Poseidonia. But the biggest city of the whole area is Lavrio, a little further down the road. Lavrio is a real city, it is also a very important port where ferries leave for various destinations, like the islands of Kea and Kythnos. The hotels of the area are scattered here and there. Most of them are around Kato Poseidonia.
I would suggest you girls do another day trip to Porto Rafti. First you take the metro to the Nomismatokopeio station, and then again the orange KTEL buses that go to Porto Rafti. There are a lot of busses every day (one at 8:40, one at 10:00). Porto Rafti has many beaches, many cafes and many taverns, so you won't get lost this time!
Yes, living outside Athens is great. I live in Markopoulo, 10 mins from the airport and 10 mins from the sea. I have to drive 40 mins everyday to go to work, but I don't care because it is really nice here.
Helene I am impressed with the way you said "οδοντογλυφίδα"!!!!

For a holiday destination far from Athens, I recommend the islands of Kefalonia(Κεφαλονιά) and Ithaca(Ιθάκη).

Good evening. yes, you know the myth right. the Aegean king of Athens fell into the sea when his son Theseus, returning from Crete having killed the Minotaur, forgot to put on white sails thus declaring that he was returning alive. Theseus is the second most famous hero of Greek mythology, after Hercules

THE HISTORY OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY
🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

How the Aegean Sea Got Its Name

Aegeus was king of the province of Attica.
Every nine years, Athens paid tribute to the Cretans in the form of seven youths and as many virgins.

This increasingly humiliated Aegeus, but he felt too weak to wield his sword.

So Aegeus consulted the oracle at Delphi.
It prophesied: "One day a son will be born to you, but if you open the skin, you will never enjoy it."
Aegeus didn't understand and departed.

One day, Aethra gave him a son: Thedeus.

Thedeus grew into a strong young man who mastered the sword at an early age.
He promised his father that the tribute would end.
He would have white sails hoisted upon his return home, heralding his triumph.

So Thedeus sailed across the sea to Crete, and Aegeus waited for events to unfold.

A long time passed.

A ship appeared on the horizon and approached the steep coast of Attica. But the victorious Thedeus had forgotten to hoist a white sail and was sailing with the traditional black sail.

The father saw the ship and froze in horror.
Believing his beloved son dead, he grabbed the skin, drank his wine in great gulps, and staggered. Nothing stopped him as Aegeus plunged deep down the cliffs into the blue sea...

He was never seen again.

The Athenians crowned Thedeus as their king and, in gratitude, called their sea *Aegean*.

The son of Aegeus was the mythical hero Theseus who went to Crete to kill the Minotaur, the half human half bull monster in King Minos' labyrinth. So the story is correct but probably not true 😄 Great video!
