I took a mold making class in college and we poured candles into our molds and the caving in has to do with the fact that wax shrinks when it cools too fast. Also! We used a fancy little crock pot with a spout and it was perfect! Kept lots of wax hot for a long time so we could pour whenever we were ready to and mix our pigments in lil silicone cups then pour into the mold!

If you’re ever looking for a some fun little video about candle making, Katie from royalty soaps did a test of the candle kits from bramble berry. Even though it’s just a try out of the kits it’s super informative, talks about the worth of the kit, tips/tricks, and the absolute blessing of wick stickers.

I used to make my own decorative candles back in the 80's, it was a lot of fun. 1950 That shrinkage was actually very common, wax expands as it warms, and shrinks as it cools. The best way to deal with it in the future is to keep your wax in the pot melted while allowing the candle to cool, and adding a small amount of wax after the top of the candle has cooled to the touch, the rest of the candle should still be fairly warm. You can also buy several different size and shape candle molds. A really cool thing to do is fill your mold with ice before pouring the molten wax into the mold. When the candle has cooled and is ready to remove from the mold, pour the water out, it will not mix with the wax. The end result will be a candle that kinda looks like Swiss cheese. 12:45 you cut the wicks too short. I agree with you guys that the over priced machine is way too gimmicky. As I said before, you can find candle molds of all shapes and sized.
