Also be careful with non candle containers/ jars. Because it can break with heat.

Be careful adding essential oils!! Not everything is gonna be safe in candles, it's better to look for candle specific oils to add

This is a great start. Next batch, learn to measure your fragrance oil to wax so that you don't use too much and create a flammable surface.. and test your candle to make sure it doesn't tunnel. The wicks you choose are hemp and great for beeswax. But sizing can be tricky. Just another area to pay attention to. Enough can't be said about using containers that are candle safe. There are national standards. Just because it's a thick glass doesn't mean it was created to fluctuate from prolonged hot to cold. Testing is very important.

And buying candles is not a scam. Candle making is a science and art. A lot goes into a great smelling and safe candle. Lots of testing.

I am not a candle person but I thought candle making was more or less just melt wax, add scents, pour into container. This comments section made me realize it's not and a lot goes into it. Thanks guys.

There's a reason people specialise in making candles- it's not as easy as it looks. Those containers might explode if you light the candle, the essential oils might turn aerosolised and hurt your lungs/ might also explode, not dissolve properly and cause fires, turn yellow or ugly colors, etc. Explore it, but safety first!

✨most types of decorative glass are not fireproof and will probably crack or even explode all over your house when used as a candle container✨

I looked into making candles it's quite a science when you deep dive. Please becareful making your own some essential oils will go on fire even to the point of exploding. And know how to burn them safely.

Great idea! Ive been making candles for awhile and learned that you need a good melt pool to "throw" a scent. You probably need 3 wicks for something that wide or you would waste wax and fragrance. Im also not sure why someone says not to use essential oils. Candles are great for aromatherapy. They are expensive though, as is beeswax, so you dont want to waste them by not having enough wicks. If you do have a lot of wax left over and you can pull the metal part of the wick out, you can remelt the wax in the microwave and still use it. You can also make a water bath where you put the bowl in boiling water and get the wax out that way. Soy wax is about half the price of beeswax. I wouldnt add that much coconut oil to soy wax though. This stuff can get expensive, even when you make it yourself. There are cheaper essential oils, like lavender.

I don't know anything about candle-making but I am 100% sure that beeswax doesn't clean the air 🤣

Id make sure that the containers you use can handle the heat. A really good thing to thrift is tea cups or fancy coffee mugs because they are meant to have hot things in them.

How is buying candles a scam!? We (candle makers) take our time to study the wax, wicks, fragrances etc for the buyer. We make sure we use the correct jars and wicks for every candle so the costumer enjoys it. Definitely not a scam! Btw your jar is huge for 1 wick. And be careful with the glass one it can explode if it gets too hot!

As a “scammer candlemaker” you’ll have no throw with essential oils and your containers are too large for 1 wick. TikTok is the last place for actual information. Minimizing someone’s skill and job is disrespectful and quite honestly can be dangerous.

Unfortunately some of those containers are not safe to be used as candles.

Nope. Those candles made by small businesses are worth every penny. They've done experiments from the containers down to the type of wax/scent. They actually know how to make candles that won't set my house on fire by itself

I just put a candle making kit in my Amazon cart yesterday. This video came at the perfect time. I didn’t even search anything and this vid just popped up and I was able to take tips from it. Couldn’t make learning any easier lol. Thanks!
