Has any research been done on whether coyotes can be fooled by optical illusions, like, for instance, a tunnel painted on a rock?

There was a photo of street cats lying inside painted circles in a market. Those were painted for people to stand in. I believe the photo is known as "social distancing cats".

"...And their own preconcieved notions about squares." Is the best ending of a sentence i've seen since March

Wow, you're not kidding. The cats preferred the illusion over the control. They preferred the illusion of a square over just 4 points marking the corners of a square. Neat!

Lol... My family has cats as long as I can remember and i never stepped in cat barf. What I'd complain about more in that topic is that they never barf on tiles but always on carpet 🙄

😂 "if it fit, I sits"... awwww I love my cat so much. That's why it's his bed, not mine👀 he just lets me sleep in it.

Douglas Adams said that the mice were running experiments on us. I'm beginning to think that it may actually be the cats.

isn't there a video with millions of views about tigers and lions jumping into boxes in an enclosure?

Considering big cats seem to like big boxes as well, it wouldn't surprise me if they could fall for the illusion of a box, too.

"Would a tiger sit in a Kanizsa square?" THE INTERNET IS ON IT.

My cat overload complained that there were not enough cute cat photos in this episode.

Experimenting with cats in boxes?
Who would so such a thing?

There was a TV show a decade or so again where they put cameras on the collars of peoples pet cats and watched them doing cat things around the neighbourhood. I found mine near a local woods laying on top of a sea of brambles.

1:25 was named after *Gaetano KANIZSA* (zs pronounced like the “s” in pleasure)
Wiki says: He was born on 18 August 1913 in Trieste, Italy to a Hungarian-Jewish father from Nagybecskerek and a Slovene Catholic mother from Bovec. His surname is analogous to the Hungarian town Kanizsa (now Nagykanizsa)
He attended the classic lyceum, and got the laurea (post-secondary academic degree) at the University of Padova in 1938, writing a thesis about eidetic memory. In 1947 he became a teaching assistant in the University of Florence. In 1953 he returned to Trieste with the role of full Professor at the University of Trieste, which he held for 30 years. He retired from academic life in 1988 and continued research until 1993, the year of his death.

From a housecat to a wild tiger. Put a box somewhere and it will have a cat in it.

I made a scratching box for my cat, like you would buy at the store, and put it in an empty soda case, from Costco, which left half the case empty. My cat liked to sit in the empty section of the case. Then I built a cat tower from a fence post and carpet. I put a scrap of carpet from that project in the empty section of the soda case, and now my cat loves to curl up on that piece of carpet in a case next to a scratching box.

I just want to take the time to appreciate the fact that researchers took the opportunity of being locked up at home due to the pandemic to continue their research on their own cats.
