The side by side comparison between Weird Al's parody and MJ's original music video is as funny as it is impressive

The gang member in the white jacket was the choreographer in the original Beat It video which is one of the reasons why this feels to accurate to the original video.

In Australia, Michael Jackson's "Beat It" reached Number 2 on the National charts. Kept from Number 1 by Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse Of The Heart".
In 1984, Weird Al's "Eat It" reached Number 1 for 1 week in 1984. Aussies love a novelty song.

The next logical WA vid is "Fat" ("Bad"). Hilarious.

This was my introduction to Weird Al when it first came out, I have been a fan ever since, over 40 years of being a fan here.

Yay. The first song I heard from Weird Al. Such a clever guy.

Weird Al's original songs are just as good as his parodies. Definitely check them out sometime. Also MJ loved Al's parodies of his songs and gave him access to all sorts of things like sets and people who where part of the original music video.

You think this is impressive, until you see them perform live. Al and his band and sound tech are something else.

If you draw a caricature of somebody, you exaggerate their features. That's what Weird Al does here.

Weird Al has said that the way he got his goofy dance move was just genuinely trying to dance like Michael Jackson. Some things were exaggerated for effect, but it's mostly just Weird Al demonstrating how great Jackson really was.
I've seen several reaction videos to "Eat It", both from professional musicians and from everyday people. Beth is the first person I've seen who recognized the Thriller reference at the end. Well done. One of the great things about Weird Al's videos is all the Easter Eggs he throws in.

Things are a bit tough here in the US and I'm checking out Weird AL to keep my spirits up.
I was so happy to see your reaction video. AL's so smart and so dedicated to detail, that he creates these perfect parodies, matching the rhythms and rhyme schemes so well that they're masterpieces.
Good call posting this, I bet a lot of people are checking out Weird AL during these difficult times.

The alien looking through the window was a jab at Jackson who some would joke was an alien because he was so odd. Years later, Jackson appeared in Men in Black II portraying an agent lobbying to become a part of the Men In Black. And Weird Al not only did a parody of the song, but his parody is actually more hilarious. It's also clever as it mimics so many elements of the original video. He did the same with Jackson's song, "Bad, " which he retitled, "Fat."

The set and the other characters look just like the original. I think I read that they are one and the same. Weird Al is a national treasure and truly.... One of a Kind. Great reaction. Take care...

I have been writing poetry since I was 12 because I tried my own parodies like Weird Al, and found that I liked writing how I was feeling instead or writing from observations. Started there and I still write poetry and I still love Weird Al. Thank you for the video, Beth!

He also captures Frank Zappa voice (Genius In France) and even Madonna (Like A Surgeon).
Less known is his style parody of Bob Dylan (Bob) with truly amazing lyrics, that actually make sense, once you found how.
Insane vocal artistry is in "Hardware Store".

@Bethroars-
I love your videos! Thanks for reviewing this one! I hope you review some more of Weird Al's songs. They are so brilliant!
Also would love to see you, Elizabeth Zharoff, Julia Nylon, all together on one video. That would be a great Red Head Voice Tripple Threat!
All the best,
M-

Weird Al definitely brings out your more playful side. You get to analyze his vocals as well as laugh at the creative silliness.
With all the different styles he's done over the decades, you have plenty to keep you going for a long while and still be amazed..

A bloke called Richard Cheese does some pretty impressive things with pop songs (Baby Got Back, Down With The Sickness) and is worth a listen.

Weird Al's WORD CRIMES is perfect. Chef's Kiss!!!
