Angels are servants of Deities, so they can't be deities themselves. But they could be a Warlocks Patron.

You could absolutely do this with a Celestial Patron Warlock even at a conservative table. There's a lot more leeway with patrons than deities.

I’ve done this. That character had one hell of a journey from 1st to 20th level. He prayed to the angel because his deity the Angel served got vote kicked from the universe. During the time I played him he went on a pilgrimage to heaven to meet the Angel then off outside the universe and came back after finding the actual god he served. He was spooky after he returned of course and picked fights with most named demon lords.

A twist on this would be if there was a warlock in the party & they realize that they share the same patron.

Anything that says that statement as a requirement in the first meeting in the first moment, you need to fear.

Some of the most fun I've had with D&D was playing as a mute bard. For spells the vocal component was replaced by playing music. I joined midway through an ongoing campaign and was introduced as a captured prisoner of a raider camp. I had to catch up with the party by tapping out a beat so I could cast create bonfire on a bunch of dried sticks on the ground. I also got real familiar with major illusion
