I disagree with the don't buy snacks. But, for another reason. I am a senior, and I, also, try not to eat too much snack food. Instead, I have my 'Movie Sunday'. On Sundays, I have 1 soda, make popcorn, and sprinkle a few broken up flavored chips into the popcorn for taste, instead of using butter and salt. I look forward to my Movie Sundays. I watch whatever I want (movies, DVD's, Youtube, or TV), and I eat whatever I want. My Sundays break up my week, and is a tradition that I really enjoy. My snacking is controlled - I don't deny myself, I just have it scheduled.

My daughter found her prom dress at a high end store....after the new year Eve formals we're reduced. She got a $680 dress for $27.50. Puts a smile on your face when you know your kids really did "get" the lessons you taught them!

My mom has used the cereal liner for years as a waxed paper substitute. I do it too.

A frugal cooking tip is to sift on the flour when breading food. That way no flour is wasted from the raw meat. This method can sometimes save up to a half cup of flour per recipe.

Speaking of greeting cards, I saw a gift idea where you get a nice box and fill it with all occasion greeting cards, a nice pen set, and some stamps. I thought that was such a great gift idea.

A week ago Monday I got up - had no interest in making coffee- since THAT day I’ve been drinking 3 fat glasses of water a day and I’ve done 2 tall glasses of water in a day- I’m NOT a water 💦 drinker- I always feel like I’m drowning - NOT ANYMORE!
My theory is my body felt like it was drowning from lack of water
I also started drinking herb tea every evening -thanks to my new neighbours mom - who is my age - a Christmas gift which is a go mug with lid that’s porcelain and she added 5 herb teas - I have yet to thank her! ♥️

Great tips! We have 2 large dogs and 2 cats, we save the large dry, dog food bags and use them when my husband cleans the cat box. Why waste a garbage bag?!

I really enjoy your show! One tip I tried this week and it worked was to de-lime my sprayer ñosil on my sink with pickle juice leftover from where we'd eaten the pickles. I was out of straight vinegar so I thought I tried it and yes it worked! Keep up the good work!!

I throw very little food away, I save onion peels, veg. scrapes, , bones put them in the freezer than when the bag is full I make broth. In a container in the freezer I keep any leftover meat, veg than make a soup or a pot pie. I make my own TV dinners with a few slices of leftover meat, veg, fruit and freeze than freeze them.

Take leftovers for lunch; I also pack snacks for during the work day so I don’t stop at fast food places. I also go to high end consignment stores such as simply chic for my tennis shoes. I work on my feet every day and I need better quality shoes. I have found $150 tennis shoes at simply chic for $35

Our public library was so helpful when our children were young. Story hours were so entertaining with not only stories but music and puppet shows and special guest appearances 😂. Our kids loved the book reading summer programs where each time they finished a book, they would get a stamp on a card and then the card was used to “buy” toys. I truly believe these kinds of programs created very strong readers.

A few tips
1. Before you buy something on sale, or clearance, ask yourself these questions:
1.why is it on clearance?
2.why am i buying this item?is the only reason because its on clearance?

These are all wonderful tips. One reframing I learned recently that I like…instead of saying “I can’t” or “I have to…” say “I choose”. For instance “I can’t afford to go out to dinner”…instead say “I choose to save my money for (whatever you are saving for).” Or, “I have to save my money” to “I’m choosing to save my money.” Just the reframing takes it from a negative to a more positive, empowering statement.

Shredded paper and cardboard substitute the woodden chips to cover the soil in winter. I have less paper rubbish to throw away and as I have red worms in my pots, the paper adds carbon to the soil, feeds my worms and gifts me with compost in spring. Total winner!

During ww2 in the Uk we had clothes and food rationing and people had to manage on it. Lots of people who could started growing there own veggies.
My mum and aunties told us about it.

I love thrift stores, I have gotten unbelievable deals there, love the excitement of hunting for an item, took me 2 years to find a whole Corelle set, I paid next to nothing for it! I was thrilled and my patience paid off and it was a 2 year excursion looking for a whole set

Things I do to save money:
1. Stopped going out to eat. Not even for coffee.
2. No longer pay for cable tv but we do still have internet which my daughter now pays.
3. I no longer get my hair cut. (At least for a while)
4. Stopped taking my dog to the groomers. I bought a booming kit and I now do it myself. That saves me about 100.00 each time.
5. Stopped buying paper towels and replaced them with cloth napkins.
6. Plugged everything I could into power strips and turn them off when not in use.
7. Open curtains for light and warmth.
8. I bought solor lights and they can be used inside the house as well.
9. Solor lights outside the house as well.
10. Learned how to say NO better. When I am asked to do anything that costs money..NO. Go somewhere..NO.
11. Stopped buying bottled water. Use a Brita now.
12. Sweep more, vacuum less.
13. Rake leaves...Use blower less.
14. Do your own repairs on house or car if you can. I replaced a headlight in my car myself and that one thing saved me about 50.00.
15. Stopped drinking soda.
16. Put plastic over Windows to keep cold air out. Choose clear plastic and the light can still shine threw.
17. For diaper rash use patrolium jelly, ( Vaseline) instead of expensive creams for babies butts. My kids are grown up now but that's what I did when they where young and was told to do that by their pediatrician . And it is also good for dry skin.
18. When buying any items, I compare price by the unit size like per ounce or per pound etc etc.
19. I am ok with generic most of time.
20. I water down my liquid soaps.
21. I buy foil sheets from the dollar tree. They have 2 choices..different sizes and different brands. I get the one with the most in the box. There are 30 in the box and they are bigger than the Reynolds ones. And you can always cut them in half to get more out of them.
I could go on but so does life. Have a great day.
