Kent,
I was fortunate to find your videos when I first started turning two years ago. Your thorough, well-designed and clearly narrated turning lessons gave me all the information I needed to start safely enjoying making my own bowls.
I have watched a lot of turning videos from accomplished turners since then, but I always come back to your channel.
Your techniques, using a few bowl gouges and a detailed spindle gouge, is all anyone really needs to have fun and create heirloom products.
I recommend your channel to all the turners I know; beginners and long-time turners as well.
Thank you for all the knowledge you have passed along, and all the work you put into creating your videos.

Kent, yes I’ve turned twice turned bowls and natural edge bowls and twice turned natural edge bowls - but I still learned a thing or three from this video. As always, thank you.

You provide very clear instruction in your videos, what sets them above most others is the detailed explanations about why to do things.
Understanding the why is so important and why I love to watch your content.

Good looking bowl, Kent. I liked your camera angles on this one. You had some excellent views of where the tools met the wood without blocking it. Nice, smooth voice over as well.

Kent, I think you're the Happy Turner on this very nice piece of Cherry. It turned out really nice. I'd like to see it after you are totally finished with the laquer.
Thanks for another very nice training video.

I'm going to be doing a live edge cherry bowl later today, so the timing of this video is perfect. Thanks, Kent.

Looks like cherry. It really deforms as it dries. Big difference between radial and tangential shrinkage. Very nice bowl.

I just twice turned an Acacia bowl. the bark stayed on well, but I did soak the edge of the bark to wood with CA glue for insurance. Sweet Acacia is prevalent in Arizona and I grabbed a limb when they cut down a storm damaged tree. Beautiful wood grain.

Hey l love that bowl, great job my friend. At the moment lm working on a very wet Bradford pear. Trying to use the twiced turned. An microwave drying technique. Cracks have stopped. I couldn't have done any of this, without your videos.

I twice turn them. Thanks for sharing.

I pretty much only get green wood, so everything gets twice turned. I am very interested in your new finish idea with the lacquer!

Beautiful bowl Kent. I love the texture of cherry bark.

I am currently processing a lot of blanks for future second turning. One thing that is hard to resist is you see some real nice movement in the wood and you want to continue exploring and before you know it, the bowl is turned to almost final state before you gave it a chance to dry out more. That has been my downfall more than once, and occasionally it has surprised me with a really cool warping, but it is something for new turners to consider....when to stop the first time. Thanks, I always learn something or see a weakness in my own approach.

Believe it or not, but I have a rough turned cherry live edge bowl sitting in the drying rack right now. Definitely an inspiration to finish turning it now

Just chucked up a natural edge blank, using your video as a guide, I am inspired.

I am learning so much from your videos! Do you treat the bark before you do the first turn?

Any rule of thumb on how thick to leave the wall of the bowl during the first turning? When do you rough turn, microwave dry, then finish versus rough turn, wait a long time for drying, then finish?

You are wearing a glove on your left hand in this video, is this to avoid getting burnt by the hot shavings?
Some folks regard a glove near high speed turning tools as dangerous, however everything you do seems to be well thought through, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. I have just started turning and have experienced the burning hot shavings, would love to hear your thoughts on how to avoid them.
