Robert Mueller: Charging Trump was not option - BBC News

US Special Counsel Robert Mueller has reaffirmed the findings of his Russia investigation in his first public comments since the inquiry started in 2017.

Speaking in Washington, Mr Mueller said charging President Donald Trump with a crime was not an option under guidelines of the justice department.

Mr Mueller concluded there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign, but did not exonerate the president of obstruction of justice.

Did you know you can still say someone is guilty without charging them?
Mueller could have said “here are the facts and I believe he is guilty” but he doesn’t say that. DOJ policy only prohibits charging the president. Accusing is different to indictment
