The JMT is a tough trail even for experienced and fit backpackers. I began a NOBO thru in Aug 2019 from Cottonwood Pass. I was totally unprepared. I spent more time buying equipment than conditioning my body for the hike. Needless to say my trip ended badly with a helicopter evacuation to a Visalia hospital. Dehydration and rhabdomyolysis. The good news is I successfully completed the hike in Aug 2020 because I took the better part of 6 months preparing physically. Great advice and I enjoyed watching your JMT videos!

I'm starting to train for my 2022 JMT hike now. I hiked the Rae Lakes loop, this summer without much prep and I learned I really need to get into shape if I'm going to tackle any trail in the Sierra. Thank you for sharing these videos, they will certainly help.

Or you can inline skate, bike ride, run, instead of wieght training rotating between them, if you can swim add that in also

I already do crossfit style workouts 3X a week. How do you suggest incorporate these without over training?
