hi everyone, this playlist is a draft from ages ago and i figured it would be a good place-holder until i can make some new content, i apologize for how repetitive its been getting! i've been thinking of maybe a dark paradise aesthetic one soon? or another harry potter themed playlist.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute.
We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.
Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life... but poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

Flickers of candles
and drapes of curtains
The dark night peeks in through the drapes
to see the candle _waving_ it's arms
beckoning the darkness to come in

the dark scurries away
from the fire on the wick
like a child, afraid of the ill-lit

_come, let us dance_
the flame calls out to the dark
crackling an invitation

the dark does not reply,
only stays hidden from the light
and on that night
the dark stayed watching

peering at the candle
watching it sway-
without the sweet hymn of music

and when morning came,
the dark disappeared
and the candle snuffed out,
and the two waited together
for when the night would come
and they would see each other yet again

Her mind wandered into endless dream,
The stars twinkle at her delight.
There her lover lay,
Smiling ever so bright,
In a field of lavender and wild flower.

Together the two maidens danced,
In a world where reality couldnt grasp,
In this world they could love for eternity.

But when they were to wake,
They would return to their duties,
Separated until they would be blessed with the darkness that came with night.

Despite their eternal plight,
Their love would last,
Because together they were the neverending burning light,
Like the stars that would twinkle at their delight

Relationships are confusing: A poem

It could have been the light,
it might have been her dinner,
maybe something shifted somehow
somwhere deep within her.
For in the briefest moment
when she glanced upon her friend,
she realized that she loved him
—and would love him to the end.

He looked up from his plate
and saw the glimmer in her eyes,
and wondered if he had a stain of
ketchup from his fries.
He looked down at his shirt,
but it was clean and white,
so he shook his head and
wondered if his manners were alright.

Broken Promise by me :)

Gone are the words that are yet to be fulfilled
They're as useful as a garden left untilled
Words without action are just sentimental lies
A way of bypassing deeds hidden in disguise
And so they are intended to be broken
So that a soul isn't as so
Promises are words without use
Until actions ensue

the dread of her pen glided across the alabaster paper, she stared as the obsidian ink seeped throughout the paper, staining her wooden table. she glanced outside and noticed as midnight was about to peak, the onyx sky and ivory moon was ever so beautiful to her. she looked back down at her paper, but this time, writing with content.

the lovely aroma of coffee left her room as she blew out the candle and slightly opened her window. having a peace of mind, she was finally able to sleep.

The man leaned over his desk, dark hair falling across his eyes. The candle flickered and threatened to extinguish, barely holding on in the drafty room. The rain tapped like the fingers of a jealous lover on the thin glass windows, the moaning wind causing them to shudder. The man’s fingers hovered over the yellowed paper. His quill was ready, but his mind and his lips were not. Drops of ink fell, tears bleeding on the parchment. The candle waned, then brightened again. He touched his pen down. The letters formed, too slowly, too carefully. Perhaps it was due to the dire state of the message. Perhaps it was his hands shaking.
“My Dearest Cordelia.” He thought of the woman, her smile like summer, so far away in London’s winter. The rain beat on the rooftop. She would be at her father’s winter estate now, warming by the fire, her cheeks rosy and her heart full.
“I am afraid that I cannot marry you.” The words could barely leave the quill. They scratched hollowly in front of him as his breathing came, shaky and ragged, and his tears, like the rain, fell without care of any.
“For I am afraid that I love another.”

_’Rocking so slowly to the tune of the dark, _
_Nary a pondering care, _
_A melody lilts through the air from the stars, _
_How many of it are aware?’_

_’Softly and slow, _
_So few here below, _
_To hear now this passionate song, _
_Though here by itself, _
_With naught even stealth, _
_It plays, content, but alone.’_

You sighed as you wrote, laying down your pen as you look out at the moon from your dorm window.
Closing your notebook you take it with you to said window, looking out over the courtyard before opening your window for some fresh air.
As you do so, you hear the barest hint of song, listening you realize it’s getting quieter still, as if moving away. Quickly you scan the courtyard for whoever it might be, instantly curious of this coincidental matching of your poem.

Spotting movement near the front gate, you quick grab a coat, slip on your most comfortable shoes, and without a single thought to being caught, dart outside as quietly as you could with your book.

Once outside you look around almost frantically for whoever it was as you reach the gate. You spot a figure a ways down the path and you try to follow as unobtrusively as possible so as not to disturb their singing.

Close enough now to realize they- he, was singing words rather that just vocalizing, you thought you recognized the rhythm and time of the, at the moment, unintelligible words.

Suddenly you found yourself at the edge of a clearing, and stopped short, quieting your breathing as best you could you could now make out the words.

The same as your poem.

The most absurd idea came to you before they started the second stanza, and you hastily took out your book, scrambling for your pencil you began to write once more,

_’The tune of the dark, _
_So quiet yet stark, _
_In the moonrays betwixt all the starlight_
_To the tune of the dark, _
_With a hand on your heart, _
_Never fearing the next looming sunlight.’_

_’Listening so quiet to this tune of the dark, _
_Wandering melodies weaving their parts, _
_Never a care when the shadows depart, _
_All that now is the tune of the dark.’_

_’The tune of the dark, _
_So quiet yet stark, _
_Ever nearer the end does it draw, _
_Oh the tune of the dark, _
_How the harmonies part, _
_Though must end never does fear the dawn.’_

_’Though must end never does fear the dawn, _
_All it wants is but one hear this song.’_

Your last stroke coincided with the last words sung, which had just been written, and was then added to, which you furiously wrote down after a seconds marveling,

_’As it wished it came true, for a listener as you, _
_Nay the writer of this very song, ’_

You looked up at that only to find this person now looking at you as your hand continued writing somehow,

_’Neither wind rain or dew, but as human as you, _
_Put these words to a song not yet sung’_

_’To the tune of the dark, _
_Given voice by the heart, _
_Of a soul melancholic with dreams, _
_Oh the tune of the dark, _
_Given life by the mark, _
_On a page from a mind given wings, _
_Now in gratitude song does it sing.’_

This time the last words fell, the tune dissipated, and all that was left was you, and the figure standing before you. For all intents and purposes he was human, wearing a school uniform not unlike yours, unkempt, slightly curly ruddy brown hair, that somehow didn’t clash with his starkly contrastingly pale, and almost cool toned skin, his eyes, though gentle, friendly, and a little playful, were unnaturally light, no pupil, just an almost white cool blue. Taking his hands out his pockets and rolling up his sleeves you couldn’t help but notice that his extremities were significantly darker than his face. You then noticed his ears did the same. He stepped closer with took you aback, but you didn’t back away, instead you stepped closer as well, clutching your book to your chest as you asked “Who- …who are you..?” Voice full of awe.

He smiled and put a hand over where his heart would be and said “my name is Liron, Liron Ebony, and I am your song. But you may call me lyre” His voice gentle, and slightly airy.

“But how..?” You asked, dumbfounded, bewildered, and utterly astonished. He chuckled lightly, “You may not have in the literal sense, but you heard me, my unformed ideas and intents, and wrote them down, you must have understood it such that your passion gave me form.” He said, now right in front of you “And I thank you for that” you blinked and asked “for what.?” To which lyre smiled once more and replied “For hearing me though I had no voice, for seeing me though I had no form, for understanding me though I was naught to understand myself… for well, writing” he gently placed his hands atop your, still holding your book, “I was before, though without form, here I am now with voice and how, I do not know but this I vow, I’m here as yours from always now.”
Lyre murmured, locking eyes with you as you asked “Tell me, please, are you just a dream..? Please tell me lyre that you’re not.” You said, quietly, almost pleadingly.

Lyre smiled and replied ”just a dream?”

Title : To the shadows and back

I used to be scared of the dark.

Scared of the monsters watching over me,

Scared of the black webbing that would form as they wept.

Even though it suffocated me, I reached out to them.

Hesitantly dried their tears–

And as we touched, as their colourless paint tickled my fingertips,

They disappeared.

And so I used to be scared of the dark, I was then a hero.

But the dark was empty, and the monsters were nameless, and I had no one to save.

Most heroes were wrong.

Though I wasn't a hero, I was no villain.

I was just there and holding myself back in a breathless desire,

Gently cupping my cheek and whispering unreasonable reassurance,

I dried my tears and disappeared.

I am no longer scared of the dark,

I am no longer a part of it.

The soft classical music fluttered through your ears. The smell of ink and paper seeming to comfort you. The steady beat of your heart relaxed you as the two of you sat in silence.

“Darling” he broke the silence first, “is the book not to your liking? You seem troubled.”

Looking up your eyes met, your heart beats pace quickened. It always did when it was about him.

“No the book is fine, I just wish we could do this more often” you sighed before your attention was on the book once more.

“Your poetry was always good, to bad you weren’t able to publish it” you spoke softly recalling the nights he’d spend in his office, not coming down for dinner.

“Oh how I miss it” you looked up to find his chair empty. Of course it would be, he was never there to begin with.

Getting up from the sofa you walked to his desk. Placing yourself in his seat you wrote his final chapter of poetry.

You never did think your poetry was all that great, but he would always tell you it was before you brought yourself down some more.

Your body lit up in sparks. He was still here, guiding you. Never once doubting you, loving you.

“There” you set the quil down, “your book can now be published” closing the book you leaned back in the chair.

‘Beloved’ was displayed on the cover. It was name you had always called him.

pov:
The end of the night was drawing nearer with each second that passed. "Tik tok" "tik tok" chimed the big ben to the left of where you and your lover were sitting. "I wish this night could last forever" you say with a big sigh. "Darling, although today might end soon, we still have the rest of our lives to be together." they said as they brought you into a hug. In just a few hours your lover would be leaving the city to get their dream job. A tear slid down your face and damped the page of paper with writing beneath you. "What's wrong?" said your lover as they wiped another tear of your face. "Nothing. Im just happy we will be able to spend the rest of our lives together." you said with a fake smile. "I will return to you my love. Don't worry!" they said. The two of you enjoyed your last moments before it was time for your lover to leave. "Safe travels! I love you" you yelled as your lover got into the cab. "Love you too mi amor!" they said as they sent you a flying kiss. Those where the last words you heard them say.
