That driver really missed up. He mixed up poor neighborhoods with dangerous. All these neighborhoods that you drove through are either lower class neighborhoods or industrial/workshops type neighborhoods. The danger level is no way near those of other countries

I lived and went to school in Saudi Arabia. Not a single one of these areas is dangerous in a Western context. It appears from the video there is a communication gap between the driver and Mr. Santenello. What he was told were "dangerous" areas likely refers to the sometimes reckless manner some young drivers drive in those areas. Yet gangs, armed robberies, shootings, assaults, etc., that are commonplace in Western urban cities are next to unknown in the Gulf.

90% are non-Saudis in these neighbourhoods
Most of them are from Yemen, Pakistan, India and some African countries.
Uber driver does not fully understand what he is saying, especially when you ask him about gangs?
There are no gangs in Riyadh, in the sense that they are known in America, but some boyish gatherings in some neighbourhoods (teenagers)
I hope you see the bright side of Riyadh that you did not see in the first episode.

Danger and Saudi don't go along very well. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about, these are just nice poor people and the teens of poor families tend to hang outside in the neighboorhood play football "soccer" and chill, nothing in the realm of danger! but for some reason your driver gets that feeling, I'm not sure why. Him not being native should be enough for you to know that he has no clue on what he's talking about, how would he know!!
A possibility is that he wanted to milk your money and drive you around as long as he could.
