I'm lactose intolerant and it's so refreshing to hear you saying "milk of your choice." I'm used to getting confrontation and questions most of the time I state that I've chosen to go slowly go plant-based until I gave up all dairy, about two years ago, and never looked back since. It's really disheartening when I realize that being financially dependent on my parents (meaning they're the ones shopping and choosing groceries while every now and then I'd be shamed for being unable to provide for myself and discouraged to ask for anything besides the very basic) was the reason why I delayed a lifestyle that literally reduces the amount of pain I'd be in on the daily. I won't say it was an easy choice, cause I had to give up so many things... I can't even have some cheap soft serve. My dad still constantly reminds me of "a pity" it is that I can't eat regular pizza, my parents still order and eat all of those things in front of me... All because people think plant milk is a fad diet or some shit, that oat or soy milk is for weaklings and hipsters, and society refuses to normalize alternatives. Bro I just wanna have a latte without feeling sick. I guess it doesn't help that I'm also a vegetarian, so people think my compassion for animals is too extreme and ridiculous too. Anyway, thanks for being kind and inclusive, Morgan. I may be overthinking a short sentence, but, to people like me, it means the world.
