Best beginner portrait lens on a tight budget. Sony 50 1.8
Its so easy to get caught up in all the hype behind expensive gear., but if you are trying to make money and not the opposite, you might want to consider a lens that can earn you back money after a single shoot. To me that just sounds like good business. Once you start making consistent money then set a side a percentage of profits for upgrading your gear.
So what's the down side of this budget lens? It doesn't focus as fast as more expensive lenses. But for portraits and headshots that isn't much of a hindrance. If you were shooting fast moving subjects it might be.
The plus side is its so light there is no reason not to always have it in your bag. It can save your bacon in a low light scenario with that 1.8 aperture. And for portraits, if you fill the frame with your subject and take advantage of the 1.8 shallow depth of field you get very nice professional results. I really love it. No buyers remorse or regrets on this purchase.
