I just shot some senior portraits with the Tamron 70-180mm and it stayed on my camera pretty much the whole shoot. The images look great and it’s a steal of a deal for the price.

I shoot with:
24mm GM f/1.4 - excellent for large groups, indoors, landscapes, and party shots.
50mm GM f/1.2 - like Manny said it’s incredible and addicting. Excellent indoors, low light, and makes awesome portraits.
135mm GM f/1.8 - simply put, THE BEST. Incredible lens if you shoot outdoor portraits.
Each of these lens are extremely sharp and focus really fast. I use these with the Sony a7R IV 👍

The 50 GM is really great. I even used it on a video shoot and the image is simply gorgeous. I can’t decide if the GM or Canon’s RF 50mm is better, but Sony knocked it out of the park. Hoping they redesign the 24-70 and 85/1.4 soon.

My most used lenses for current day:
1. Sigma 35mm f1.2 - lens has a good contrast and color saturation of environment portraits (i don't plan to switch 35mm f1.4 GM)
2. Sony 85mm f1.4 GM - is a very versatile lens, my fav
3. Sony 135mm f1.8 GM - I think the best choice for studio close up portraits

My taste for portrait lens
Sigma 135mm F1.8 - Favorite lens, and it makes everything look so damn good. It's the cheap version of the GM but the results are similar
Sony 85mm F1.8 - It's cheap, and feels like the little version of the 135mm
Sony 24mm F1.4 GM - Best image quality and mostly used for landscape portraits

Thank you for the video. My portrait lenses are pretty much aligned with the 35/1.4 GM, 50/1.2 GM, and 135/1.8 GM. I still have the 85/1.4 GM and have not swapped it out for the Sigma since the Sony does feel a part of the family and that is something I personally value. I still use it and would rely on it more if the 50/1.2 had not come along. Don't have an A1 but with the A7R IV I can easily crop in I need to.

Thanks Manny, Your videos inspire me to keep shooting and learning. I currently shoot with the A7iii on 24-105G, 20G with amazing results. I also use the Viltrox 85 man. for portraits shoots sometimes, cuz who doesn't wanna learn manual focus on these amazing cameras.

I love your work Manny, I´m more a videographer but when it´s about taking pictures, portrait it´s where I´m looking forward to learn. I´m about to buy an A7III and I was about to buy the 50mm 1.8, but with your opinion you are make me rethink everything. I guess I´m gonna buy the Sigma MC-011 to adapt my Sigma 18-35 1.8 to start. I think about this a lot. I'm at the point where I know how I like to shoot and would love to revamp my lens line. I have the old Sigma Art 85 and really want the new one. Also trying to decide if the G Master 24 would be better than the GM 35.
