Taking a Driverless Car to Visit Ancient Ruins

We were in Tempe, Arizona with some extra time on our hands, so I decided I wanted to check out some ancient Hohokam ruins that I knew were nearby. But rather than drive myself, I had seen these driverless cars driving all over the Phoenix area, so I wanted to take one of those. So that's what we did.

In this video, we check out the future of driving, by taking a self driving car across Tempe to visit the Loma del Rio Hohokam ruins and an example of the ancient Hohokam canal system that transformed the Phoenix valley and helped support tens of thousands of people in the area for around 1500 years.

Along the way we talk about the Hohokam, their canal system, and the Loma del Rio ruins, as well as what its like to ride a car with no human driver.

I need to add a correction. In the video I said we are heading to the Gila River but we were heading towards the Salt River.

Taking a driverless car offroading, now that is an adventure with the potential to get you sidetracked.

Nice contrast of old and new. I love the walks with no other people around. 😊 And the history lessons.

The Phoenix area was my home from 1958 to 1975. Way different now of course. Another fine adventure with a futuristic touch. 🤣 Thanks!

You were in my old stomping grounds. I moved to Tempe in 1982 and lived in the Maple-Ash neighborhood for over 20 years. I have ridden my bicycle everywhere you were. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
