Driverless Waymo pulled over by Phoenix Police

This is something you probably didn't consider: self-driving Waymo cars can get pulled over by police.

In fact, it happened last month in Phoenix, and it was caught on body camera.

It's not every day you see a Phoenix Police officer pulling over a driverless car. But, that's what happened on June 19 after the officer observed a Waymo going haywire in traffic.

"I couldn't help but come over here just out of morbid curiosity. I thought maybe there was a passenger," a passerby said to the officer.

The officer replies, "You know the construction here? It was going eastbound in the westbound lanes, which is real bad. So I light it up and it takes off in the intersection."

While most Waymo cars can be seen throughout the city driving safely and behaving civilly, erratic driving is not completely out of the question for artificial intelligence.

I'm in Phoenix and here's what I notice. Those Waymo cars do NOT drive like humans. They drive much faster and ALWAYS cut directly in front of cars. Unlike a human, they can detect other speeds of cars, so they floor it with only moments to spare. To a human it looks very careless.

It really irks me that there was not a single apology or even recognition of a potentially serious situation.

It’s just bloodsuckers avoiding accountability.

The car drove into oncoming traffic. You are responsible for your cars on public roads.

Waymo: “construction signage was inconsistent”
“our robots drive better than humans.” Complete deflection and denial. It’s really sickening honestly.

People better be paying attention to how
these companies think and operate.

A simple, “we fvcked up, our bad. We’ll look
into it and fix the issue” would have sufficed.

But, these narcissists know no bounds.
