Frenchman here. I believe your sansational headline does not reflect reality. What is reality?
- France GDP is higher than Russia but today France spends 2% of its GDP on defense while Russia spends 40% of its GDP (of which a large part is going into the pockets of Putin's inner circle). Are we going to rise the effort to 40%? Of course not UNLESS war is at our door steps.
- there is no question that French weapons are way way better than Russian ones (over inflated by propagada) but we are not in the XIXth century anymore. Today, war is won by the economy.
- France is at peace and is not ready to go for an "all-out war"
- France (Macron) is just rying to get Putin a little bit more incomfortable but mostly he is trying to make the European posture a little bit more firm against the Russian aggression.
- Agreed this is a bit of a comedy show BUT, if Putin gets Europe really mobilized, then things may change in a big way (Today, neither Russia nor the USA want really Europe to be a superpower (which it could be easily).

I'm nearly an hour into this compilation, and want to thank you guys. This is a very divicive subject politically, and somehow you've managed to just report fact, as best I can tell, and haven't been biased at all really. Unless I'm just dince and am missing it, this has so far been very fair, and not swayed too far towards one side or the other. Kudos for pulling that small miracle off! I am not educated enough to know if there are any errors or not, in your reporting, I'm simply giving my appreciation for not feeling like my views are under assault here.

France's willingness to jump in with both feet was initially thought crazy, now it seems visionary. If NATO troops stood at the border between Ukraine and Belarus that would free up alot Ukrainian resources and send Moscow a clear signal.

You know what's an insane thought, the USA spends like 1.6 trillion dollars on healthcare each year. If the US system was as efficient as say Singapore's, it would only cost about $850 billion. So in a way, that's something like 750 billion dollars the USA just has tucked under an insurance company mattress lol. Could sure do a lot for global security or national poverty with that kind of dough.

Who are these people "outraged" by Macron threatening troops in Ukraine? People think THAT is unnecessary and provocative? Should they just lie down and gift wrap eastern europe for Putin? It's refreshing seeing a European leader with a back bone, and from my view he is being upfront and honest about retaliation on Russia, which sends a message and could make them think twice about being aggressive psychopaths.
