Wonderful video. I took a lesson with a guy who once played on the nike tour. He told me pros often visualize a 2nd ball 6 inches ahead and their swing thought is hit the first ball, but hit the second ball too. This keeps you in impact zone longer=more chances to hit sweet spot. Its all about more time in the sweet spot. This works even better for pitching btw!!!

Did this tonight at the range. Incredible results. Never struck the ball that well all year! Cheers Rick

this is SUCH an amazing drill / tip. tried it for 5 minutes and then into a comp and my improvement in impact was dramatic. question for Rick - what's stopping you setting up this way when you play (as opposed to just getting a feel for it on range and reverting to normal for open play)?

I am very new to golf and attempted this today. I could not believe the results from attempting this. Superb tip, thank you!

Hi Rick,
well what I did when I go to the range, hitting off the mat, i stick a masking tape 2-3" behind the ball. If I hit the mat first, an immediate respond fr the tape. Plus, I could have that mind set up to not hit the mat, and strike the ball nicely. Awesome videos mate, helped my swing and game play a lot. Cheers.

Great video. I have noticed I do this a lot more since the ground has got softer. I have been getting away with it on the hard ground in the summer

I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but I used to be a mark Crossfield fan but since discovering you, Pete finch and meandmygolf, you guys have done more to improve my game through your content than anything that has gone on before. So a big thanks to all of you guys! Extremely grateful for helping improve us golfers out there.

Rick another great video. As you have said it is vital to make contact with the ground or mat after making contact with the ball. The next time I am practising at the driving range I'll do what you have suggested, I'll move the ball 3/4 inches forward in my stance and insure I strike the ball cleanly.

Amazing tip. Just by doing this I improved the feel of my strike and connected better down the range - looking forward to getting on the course to bring this out 👍🏼

I was given this tip last year and have never looked back. The only time I have felt confident of making clean contact with the ball.

Glad iv watched this. I thought this for a while. When I'm at the driving range I hit them well and when on the course less so. Hitting the ground first sometimes. And I realised I'm hitting the mat at the range first but still produces a good shot as the mat bounced the club up rather than deep into the grass and staying there.
Cheers Rick. Need to book some lessons but it's a bit drive from York to Manchester :-(

Can´t wait to try this tomorrow. Been having this problem from time to time but actually moved the ball forward in my stance instead to prevent my slice as well. Of to the practice range then.

thx this has really helped me out, kept feeling i was hitting them allright when practicing and then I go out on the course and smash in the grass every other shot which was quite upsetting. Getting much more consistent strikes now and I'm enjoying my time spend practicing more since it was beginning to feel like wasted efford.
