Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”. The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way.

I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.

Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and YouTube sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Years ago, it was mentioned to me that I might possibly have PKD.. Only ended up with one cyst per kidney but they’re causing problems with albumin in the urine and blood for several decades. My symptoms go beyond the kidney where there is a lower output and my GFR is 71 but lower than a few months ago. I have abdominal pain all throughout my peritoneal Cavity and there is no G.I. doc that I have access to an area of Minnesota. I am a retired RN so it’s just me and God is my great physician.

One word ...Grounding.
Grounding reduces inflammation instantly. I'm a transplant patient, Urea Nitrogen levels down 25% Grounding with a grounded pillow case while sleeping.

Trust me, this marker is tougher to bring down than your creatine level.
My kidney function is 1.0, 5 yrs. After transplant and using grounding for last 3 yrs.
The medical industry will never come around to this.
When you are grounded, your body immediately becomes slightly negatively charged. Your circulation immediately increases, the process of inflammation also stops.. Your blood gets thinner... just to name a few.
You can't afford not to research grounding/earthing.

I already knew about high water content of watermelon and cucumber. I didn't know that a cucumber was 97% water, however.
And I didn't know peaches had so much water. I will try eating more frozen peaches. I don't like the fuzzy skin on fresh peaches.
What is the water content of a nectarine?

I drink a lot of water with electrolytes because I assume it is hydrating me. The tap water where I live is very hard & I can't stand the taste of it. But, now I'm wondering if water with electrolytes is safe for kidneys??
