I'm glad you suggested swatching it! This is my very first attempt at knitting and I'm actually trying to use this method to add in arm holes for a sweater for my kitty. She always wants to go everywhere with me and needs a sweater for the cold weather. By swatching it first, I will be able to determine how many stitches I need to fit her leg through, before trying to add the holes to the actual sweater. I get really confused when I mess up in knitting and can't figure out how to fix it without tearing out the whole thing and starting over! I've been crocheting all my life and find it easy to go back and fix mistakes in crochet, but the knitting, I just can't. I can't make sense of it. Hopefully it will start making sense with time.

I’m a beginner knitter, do you think that a two row button hole would work for openings for a pigtail toque? I’m not sure how to go about that.
